    Don Reilly founded Reilly Financial Advisors in 1999 to meet a unique need in the marketplace by providing clients with a comprehensive and disciplined approach to wealth management. As the firms’ Chairman Emeritus, Don continues to act as Chief Mentor to the RFA team.

    Don has more than 40 years of experience providing comprehensive financial solutions and investment management advice to a broad base of international clients. He has in-depth expertise in investment management, portfolio design and financial risk management.

    His natural entrepreneurial spirit first manifested itself in a real estate career 40 years ago. Recognizing that his clients needed more than just real estate advice, Don began acquiring expertise about investments and financial services. He became an independent representative of LPL Financial Advisors in 1990. Don was also an early proponent of charging a flat fee, in opposition to the conflicts inherent to commission based services.

    Don’s greatest skills have always been in the area of personal communications and client service. He has a unique ability to synthesize and translate complex financial issues into straight forward, prioritized concepts that his clients can not only understand, but trust. RFA has grown consistently over the years without sacrificing either of those principles. Don’s skill as a communicator is only matched by his dedication to extraordinary client service. He builds lasting relationships with clients and consistently prides himself in telling his clients the truth – whether it be about their personal financial situation, an investment product or the environment of the economy.

    As President, Frank oversees all aspects for the firm, including day-to-day operations, strategic alliances, joint ventures and compliance, as well as developing new services. Frank is co-chair of the firm’s Investment Committee and represents Reilly Financial Advisors internationally.

    Frank’s immersion in international business has served as the foundation for the firm’s global approach. Frank has conducted business, researched potential foreign offices and negotiated contracts in Switzerland, England, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the Czech Republic, meeting with local financial regulators, lawyers and potential partners. Frank also spent 18 months working out of the firm’s Saudi Arabia office. He has attended investment and economic symposiums internationally and has traveled for business to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, India and the Far East, including 16 “around the world” and 20 intercontinental trips. Frank continues to travel internationally at least twice a year to develop strategic alliances, stay abreast of global economic issues and visit clients.

    Prior to cofounding Reilly Financial Advisors, Frank worked in multiple roles at LPL Financial, a leading technology, brokerage and investment advisory platform for financial advisors. In this role, he researched and negotiated several international alliance contracts with multiple countries including Brazil, Bahrain and Canada. He was also an integral member of the team that began Global Portfolio Advisors, an international institutional money management firm that still exists today, researching and meeting with local financial regulators and major foreign investment firms around the world and conducting business in India, Singapore, Indonesia, Lebanon, Bahrain and Taiwan. He worked closely with the Royal Bank of Canada to draft an offshore trust offering for LPL representatives, and was responsible for compliance with IRS laws regarding Non Resident (NR) and Passive Foreign Investment Company (PFIC) taxes for the offshore trust.

    Frank holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s Degree in International Business from the United States International University and has earned the FINRA Series 4, 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses.

    Frank’s professional and personal experiences traveling and conducting business around the world, combined with his advanced education in international business, have shaped his real world perspective, and guides the firm reactions to world events and positions portfolios to the benefit of the firm’s clients.

    In his free time, Frank enjoys teaching Middle School, High School and Collegiate-level courses in finance, investing and economics.

    Dean oversees the operational aspects of the firm’s portfolio management software, as well as day-to-day transactional procedures, working hand-in-hand with our custodians. Dean works closely with the Reilly Financial Advisors investment committee in stock selection, retention and purchasing to ensure that client portfolios adhere to the firm’s 20-point inspection process and investment philosophy.

    Dean joined the Reilly family business in 1994 and has earned the FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.

    As Senior Vice President of Marketing & Special Projects, Christina works closely with Reilly Financial Advisors principals to strategically develop and implement the marketing strategy for the firm.

    Christina brings ten years of financial services experience to her current role. Prior to joining Reilly Financial Advisors as Client Service Manager in 2010, she held various positions in the areas of operations, sales and marketing in the trust services business, working directly with Registered Investment Advisors and Third Party Administrators.

    Christina received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Marketing from The Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado.

    In her role as Senior Vice President of Operations & Compliance, Sonja is responsible for day-to-day operations and reliability of the Internal Operations Department. She frequently coordinates with other departments to ensure that all client- and business-driven requests are processed in an efficient and timely manner.

    Sonja also works closely with the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure that the firm and its employees stay compliant with the Securities and Exchange Commission’s regulations pertaining to Registered Investment Advisors. She came to Reilly Financial Advisors in 2004, after several years of office administration at firms across Southern California.

    Sonja holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from San Diego State University. In addition, she is a public notary and has earned the designations of Investment Advisor Compliance Certificate Professional (IACCP®) and Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®).

    As Chief Investment Officer, David leads Reilly Financial Advisors’ investment committee and is responsible for oversight of the firm’s portfolio management department.  He provides strategic direction and tactical strategies for all RFA portfolios.  David brings 20 years of portfolio design and investment strategies to the firm.  For both individual and institutional clients, David has always focused on long term global investing based on sound fundamental principles.  He also places emphasis on tax efficient portfolio management strategies.

    In addition to his responsibilities as CIO, David works directly with clients and advises in the areas of investment management, financial planning, tax planning, and estate planning.  It is this personal interaction that is critical in keeping the firm’s overall portfolio management function in tune with the specific needs of clients.

    Before joining Reilly Financial Advisors in 2013, David was a Portfolio Advisor at a major Wall Street firm, where he worked with high net worth families as well as corporate retirement plan sponsors.  Prior to that, David worked as a Portfolio Manager at a boutique investment management firm in San Francisco, serving institutional and ultra-high net worth clientele.  In addition to traditional equity and fixed income portfolio management, his investment experience includes the management of hedge fund portfolios, direct investments in private equity, the use of derivatives including options, international equity arbitrage trading, currency hedging, and other complex strategies aimed at capitalizing on opportunities, reducing risk, or both.  In support of investment decision making, David has conducted both quantitative, as well as qualitative, analysis including site visits and meetings with company management.  Within the framework of Modern Portfolio Theory, these resources are deployed as appropriate in the interests of clients.

    David received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and spent his junior year studying abroad at Gonzaga University in Florence, Italy.  He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification from the CFP Board.  David is an active member of the CFA institute, the CFA Society of San Diego, the Financial Planning Association of San Diego, the Estate Planning Council of San Diego, the North County Estate Planning Council – San Diego, and the UCLA Alumni Association.

    In his role as Head Research Analyst and as an acting member of the Investment Committee, Muttahar is responsible for executing Reilly Financial Advisors’ proprietary investment discipline, as well as for daily monitoring of the firm’s portfolio holdings.

    Muttahar’s industry experience spans nearly 25 years. Prior to Reilly Financial Advisors, he worked for 15 years as an analyst and portfolio manager for the investment division of Saudi French Bank.

    Muttahar attended the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

    As Chief Economist at Reilly Financial Advisors, Dan enhances the firm’s global macroeconomic approach and outlook, ensuring that all portfolios are managed within context of the global economy.

    Dan is a member of the Economics faculty at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, where he has taught Introductory Economics, Money and Banking, and Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory, and published his research in the Journal of Wealth Management. He was on the Finance faculty at San Diego State University from 2005-2013, where he taught International Business Finance, Investments, Personal Finance. and Managerial Economics. While at SDSU, he received the Finance teaching award in 2007, and the International Business teaching award in 2011. From 1978 to 2005, he was a Professor of Economics at Miami University (Ohio), where he taught ten different courses in economics, and had over 20 refereed publications in professional journals. He also coauthored an MIT Press book on regional economic policy, and a Probus/McGraw-Hill book on investment strategy. Dan was a consultant to the Center for Naval Analyses, and the investment adviser to the Population Association of America for many years.

    Dan is the editor and publisher of The PAD System Report, an investment newsletter. He earned his Bachelor of Arts, Masters and Ph. D., all in economics, from Yale University.

    In his role as Senior Wealth Advisor, Tom works closely with clients to ensure they are receiving superior service and that their wealth management services adapt accordingly as their financial needs change.

    In his role as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee, he works closely with the research department, executing on the semi-annual rebalancing of client portfolios. He ensures that all rebalance trades are efficiently and effectively executed according to each client’s individual and personalized portfolio.

    Tom’s financial services career spans over 25 years. Prior to joining Reilly Financial Advisors, he held positions as trader, commodities operations manager, advisory services operations manager and client relationship manager.

    Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Siena College in Albany, New York, and has participated in advanced economic studies at San Diego State University. He has earned the FINRA Series 3, 4, 7, 65 and 66 licenses.

    Mark manages the Middle East office for Reilly Financial Advisors, overseeing new business development and service for expats from around the world living in the Middle East.  Mark uses tax planning, retirement planning, and financial planning strategies to solve complex issues for his international clients.  Mark has traveled extensively and thus is able to relate well to the diverse nature of expats.

    Mark has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry with 10 years in a supervisory capacity. He helps build growth, income and capital preservation portfolios for a wide variety of clients.  Mark has a deep understanding of financial markets and has expertise in options and alternative investments for sophisticated investors.

    Mark obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Kansas. He has earned the FINRA Series 7, 8, 31, 63 and 65 securities licenses, as well as insurance licenses for life, health and annuity products. Mark has been around the world 6 times and visited 22 countries in North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.  His extensive travels abroad allow him to relate well to the diverse nature of expats.

    As an in-region Vice President for European offices, Gabrielle provides wealth management services to expatriates living and working throughout Europe. Gabrielle works closely with clients to help them both define and achieve their financial goals through effective tax and financial planning strategies. Gabrielle works to ensure all clients receive superior client service that adapts as their lifestyles, locations, and financial goals change.

    Gabrielle is a third generation Reilly to work with international clientele, following in her grandfather and father’s footsteps by working to understand the unique challenges and needs that US expatriates face. She has traveled internationally to over 40 countries, studying topics ranging from economics and finance to sustainability and service leadership. A large portion of her international experience stems from living as an expat for four years while attending University in Lugano, Switzerland. Her unique experiences at this international institution have allowed her to develop a truly global network of colleagues and friends.

    Gabrielle has experience in the financial services industry in operations, sales, and financial planning. In her most recent role as a Financial Planner, she focused on reviewing clients’ assets, liabilities, and resources to identify effective strategies unique to their circumstances. This was inclusive of investment, education, and retirement planning.

    Gabrielle was part of an International research team, where she lead a team whose focus was GARCH (Generalized AutoRegressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity) and Realized Volatility measures of forex volatility. The goal was to examine whether or not these two comparative analyses remain applicable in a more globalized, sophisticated financial environment. She and her team presented their work to an international group of students, professors, and professionals at the Eurasia Business and Economics Society in Istanbul.

    Additionally, while working as research assistant to the Department Chair of Economics and Finance at Franklin University Switzerland, Gabrielle was instrumental in the creation of ‘The Franklin Frank Community Engagement’ program. Gabrielle worked closely with professors within the department to develop and begin the circulation of this ‘currency’ which can be earned for hours spent serving the local community or traded amongst students. The program seeks to strengthen community ties as well as encourage discussions regarding the nature of money.

    Gabrielle holds a Master of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Financial and Tax Planning from San Diego State University and earned her undergraduate degree in International Banking and Finance from Franklin University Switzerland. She has earned the FINRA Series 65 Investment Adviser license and is currently working towards her CFP® credential.

    Currently residing in the Czech Republic, Jason serves as Vice President of Wealth Management in Europe. Living within Europe gives Jason the unique ability to personally meet with and provide wealth management and financial planning services for expat clients currently working and residing throughout the region. Jason focuses on developing and nurturing tenured client relationships, and serves as his client’s financial partner for the long-run. Jason works with the stateside RFA team to provide clients a comprehensive wealth management approach that aims at helping clients achieve their individual financial goals. Jason specializes in financial operations, effective tax strategies, and the financial planning process.

    Jason has spent many years with Reilly Financial Advisors. His previous roles include helping to oversee operational activities for clients, including cash management, new account openings, cost basis, and all account maintenance needs. Prior to joining Reilly Financial Advisors, Jason worked with an insurance broker where he fostered relationships with clients and provided them with comprehensive insurance products and on-going analysis. Additionally, Jason worked at the largest stateside broker/dealer where he developed and executed on new client accounts, as well as assisted financial advisors transition to the broker/dealer platform.

    Jason attended Alliant International University for his undergraduate and graduate studies. Alliant International concentrates its studies on global business aspects with a heavy emphasis on international and cross-cultural implications. Jason spent a semester abroad in Switzerland, where he continued his studies in International Business and Finance and immersed himself in new business cultures. Since then he has continued to travel extensively, including trips to over 15 European countries.

    Jason holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and International Marketing, and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business with a minor in Finance. He has also earned the FINRA Series 65, as well as life and health insurance licenses, and is completing coursework toward the CFP Designation.     Andrew has been in the financial planning profession for over 20 years. Prior to joining Reilly Financial Advisors, Andrew served as President of Spartan Planning, a financial planning and investment advisory firm. In his role, Andrew helped young professionals and retired clients navigate their personal financial futures.

    Andrew is a native San Diegan. He completed both his undergraduate and graduate work at San Diego State University with a B.S. Degree in Financial Services, along with a minor Degree in Classical Humanities in 1991. He completed his M.A. Degree in World History in 1997 by writing his master’s thesis pertaining to the financial/political exchange rate relationship between the U.S. Dollar and Japanese Yen. Seeking to complete his financial planning education, Andrew received his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2004.

    As the Reilly Financial Advisors Administrative Assistant, Shanda is the first person clients meet or speak with when contacting the San Diego office, and has been the voice of Reilly Financial Advisors for over 12 years. Shanda is responsible for administrative and office support activities, as well as for interacting with clients, vendors and visitors.

    Shanda has over 10 years of administrative support experience. Prior to joining Reilly Financial Advisors, she served as a customer service representative at LPL Financial Services, where she specialized in legal transfers, corporate actions and research and assisted over 2,000 independent registered representatives.

    Shanda earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Political Science from Indiana University.

    As the Marketing Specialist, Alex works closely with the Senior Vice President of Marketing to help develop and implement the marketing strategy for the firm.

    Alex recently graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, along with a minor in Finance. He was strongly involved on campus, holding positions in Alpha Kappa Psi (Professional Business Fraternity), the Advertisement Club, and Mu Sigma Consulting, while also being an active member of the Finance and Investment Society.

    Elmira has over 8 years of extensive experience supporting C-level executives worldwide. Her international background has helped Elmira to master intercultural communication and business management amongst diverse teams.

    Elmira earned Bachelor degree of Linguistics and Master degree in International Business.
